Wall Panels Improve Speech Intelligibility in Culinary School
Columbus, Ohio
Noise Control
1" Thick Novawall Site-Fabricated Panels
Anyone who’s worked in a commercial kitchen understands the excessive noise that metal utensils and sizzling pans create, causing staff members to often raise their voices to be heard. This issue becomes more apparent in culinary schools where students are not only required to watch their instructor, but also understand what they are saying in a highly reflective lecture hall setting.
So, when our noise control experts examined a local culinary classroom with the goal of improving speech intelligibility, we developed an effective acoustical treatment strategy for students. This included 1” thick Novawall site-fabricated panels with a half-inch stainless steel reveal in between each panel. Novawall panels are unique in that you can easily repair damaged fabric without removing the entire panel, which benefits culinary students who may damage or stain the material.
