Custom Acoustical Treatment for Local Library
Columbus, Ohio
Noise Control
1" Thick Autex APA Ceiling Panels
This local library is one of many scattered throughout Columbus as part of the city’s initiative to build several branches that engage and inspire the local community. Although these are intended to be quiet spaces for guests to read, modern architectural design trends use highly reflective materials, like exposed ductwork and metal roofing, that create an unpleasant experience.
To reduce reverberation and create a comfortable environment, our noise control experts installed 1” thick Autex APA ceiling panels that overlaid the metal roof. The grooves in the metal roof actually made our 1” thick solution perform as well as a 2” thick panel because of the air pockets created in between the grooves. This is one of many examples where our team used modern design trends to our advantage to find a solution that solved an acoustical problem while maintaining the overall aesthetic of the space.
