Job Summary
In conjunction with the Director of Warehouse Operations, the Logistics Manager manages all aspects of Ketchum & Walton Co.’s transportation operations to drive cost efficiencies, ensure safety compliance for company assets, optimize inbound shipments, and ensure 100% on-time delivery.
In support of the growth of Ketchum & Walton Co., responsibilities will include but are not strictly limited to the following:
Logistics
- Contribute to creating and implementing logistics vision, best practices, strategy, policies, and procedures.
- Research customer needs and vendor requirements to develop the best approach to maintaining 100% on-time delivery.
- Develop and implement a freight-related customer satisfaction program emphasizing the importance of the customer’s need
- Develop processes to ensure the supply chain is efficient and organized.
- Responsible for selection and oversight of 3PL partners and brokers.
- Review accessorial charges for trends and root cause analysis.
- Evaluate freight billing and rates for errors and monitor all financial aspects of transportation spend.
- Interpret and communicate freight data to stakeholders to make informed decisions on optimizing the transportation plan for the organization.
- Where applicable, negotiate shipping rates with local carriers and brokers
- Manage all freight claims.
- Be the go-to contact for all transportation-related communication.
- Work with the finance team to develop internal reporting and dashboard creation.
- Oversee the setting up and maintaining of schedules for inbound and outbound shipments.
- Ensure budgets are adhered to and achieved throughout the year.
Safety
- Be an expert and ensure compliance with local and federal DOT regulations as related company trucking assets
- Ensure adherence to preventative maintenance schedules for company assets
- Track, file, and monitor compliance with DOT-related items and other applicable laws.
General
- Establish a trusting, inclusive, and productive environment that delivers results.
- Uphold the organization’s policies and standards, following all regulatory requirements.
- Travel to various office locations as required in support of logistics operations.
- Adherence to standardized work processes and technical documentation standards.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of combined management experience in Logistics or Third-Party Logistics management
- Highly organized and detail-oriented, with excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Independent self-starter capable of managing multiple tasks. Proficiency and experience working with TMS platforms.
- The ideal candidate will live in the Maryland or Central Ohio area.
