Human Resources Manager

Consistent with the vision and values of Ketchum & Walton Co., the Human Resources Manager will be responsible for the following functional areas:  benefits administration, employee relations, performance management, recruitment/employment, onboarding, policy implementation and employment law compliance.

As the HR Manager, you will be responsible for the following key areas:

Talent Acquisition, Recruitment, & Onboarding

  • Leads recruitment efforts for all open positions companywide
  • Coordinates with external recruiters, as applicable to ensure a smooth onboarding process
  • Manages the onboarding process for new hires from offer to start
  • Schedules and facilitates new hire orientation and engages additional K&W team members as applicable

Employee Relations

  • Investigates and seeks to resolve employee relations issues in a timely and effective manner
  • Collaborates with Leadership/office managers to create corrective action plans
  • Coordinates with legal counsel as needed

Talent Development & Performance Management

  • Manages the bi-annual performance review process for the company
  • Ensures reviews are completed and filed, follow up as needed
  • Provides guidance to office managers to effectively complete and deliver reviews to their direct reports
  • Recommends, facilitates and/or identifies training needs
  • Manages annual employee training calendar

Benefits Administration

  • Performs benefits administration including claims resolution, change reporting, and approval of invoices for payment
  • Leads annual open enrollment process and collaborates with insurance broker
  • Escalates enrollment issues or employee concerns to broker as needed
  • Ensures that employees receive effective and comprehensive communications regarding the company’s benefit programs
  • Administers leaves of absences – personal/medical

HR Compliance

  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment and benefits laws and regulations
  • Completes regular updates to the employee handbook as needed
  • Creates and maintains new policies and procedures as needed
  • Consults with legal counsel as needed

Leadership

  • Works with Executive Leadership Team (ELT) to ensure culture and performance management are in alignment
  • Participates in meetings and supports ELT and local office leadership as needed
  • Creates and shares reports as needed with the ELT

Other areas

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field
  • 5 – 7 years of experience in Human Resources
  • SHRM designation preferred

You have the following technical skills:

  • Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication capabilities
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, Access, OneDrive, SharePoint)
  • Demonstrated success in developing and operationalizing a strategic vision and executing goals
  • Proficient with LinkedIn, Indeed, and other social media and career websites
  • Ability to quickly learn other systems or software:
    • Paylocity
    • Ascensus
    • Ease

Physical Requirements:

This position will be performed in an office environment and will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person, virtually, and by telephone, and frequently operate standard office equipment such as telephone, computers, & printers. May need to lift 10-15 lbs, occasionally.

  • This position may require some travel; therefore, the candidate must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • FLSA STATUS: Full-time, exempt employee
  • LOCATION: Columbus, Ohio
  • TRAVEL: As needed; less than 15%
  • REPORTS TO: Mary Beth Koester, CFO
  • DIRECT REPORTS: n/a (for now)
