This position requires a proven expert with at least three (3) years of experience selling to the Construction and Architecture/Design markets and will be responsible for growing sales of these items with new and existing customers.
This position requires an independent and detail-oriented salesperson with strong negotiating and closing skills. It also requires a team player that will take ownership of the role and develop the market. The successful candidate must be an effective communicator with customers, vendors, and teammates. The successful candidate must also be self-motivated to work independently while also being an integral part of a team.
This position requires the ability to travel throughout the Chicagoland area as well as Northeast Indiana and Southwest Wisconsin. This is a salaried position with yearly bonus for outstanding work and growth.
Responsibilities include:
- Prospecting contractors, architects, and designers to develop new business relationships.
- Regular face-to-face meetings with customers and prospects to build and maintain relationships.
- Executing a sales plan to meet performance expectations and requirements, and tracking progress.
- Maintain up to date industry knowledge on all architectural and interior product lines as well as related products and their manufacturers.
- Learn customers’ intrinsic culture, values, and key drivers in order to leverage them to drive sales.
- Identify investment (time/money/etc) needed to achieve a favorable return for a given customer/project/relationship to determine if they’re worth pursuing.
- Packaging other products to increase sales where applicable. This could include fabric panels or other as-yet-to-be-determined items.
- Providing technical guidance and solutions built around customer needs.
- Getting added to and staying on target customers’ bidder lists.
- Tracking opportunities/projects.
- Doing takeoffs, preparing bids, negotiating and closing business.
- Compiling material submittals.
- Managing material releases and shipments to meet installation schedules.
